INDUSTRY BIOGRAPHY
Jeff Knight has been in the public safety electrical, signaling and
communications field designing, installing, and providing project management
for 49 years. He retired as Superintendent of Fire Alarm & Communications
and Chief Inspector of Wires from the City of Newton, Mass. Fire Department
after 27 years of public service. Upon
retirement with the City of Newton he accepted the position of IMSA’s Education
& Certification Manager. He served
in that position for five years retiring in 2020.
Jeff is a Licensed Journeyman and Master Electrician. He is a registered
private vocational school instructor and has provided Electrical Apprentice
Journeyman training and license continuing education programs throughout the
Northeast area and has served in numerous roles in public safety.
INDUSTRY ASSOCIATIONS, BOARDS and POSITIONS
Jeff has been a member of IMSA for 40 years, is the current president of
the IMSA New England Section and is a former president of IMSA Board of
Directors. He is also on the IMSA Educational Foundation Board of Directors, from 2015 to present. He chaired IMSA’s Educational
Advisory Council for many years and it the chair of the IMSA Wire & Cable
Specifications Committee. In addition to IMSA Committees he is actively
involved with several state and national code and advisory committees including
the NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code technical committee
Chapter 27, NFPA 720 Standard for the Installation of Carbon Monoxide(CO)
Detection and Warning Equipment, NFPA 1221 Standard for the Installation,
Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communications Systems and the
National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
